Experience
I have tutored extensively and have experience with all age groups, from elementary age to adults. I have also had opportunities to work with students who are learning English as a second language, both when the language was the primary focus and when the curriculum focused on other material (the US citizenship exam). Neither age nor English-language skills are an impediment to my tutoring. I'm also an experienced literacy tutor, and have been trained and certified to work in the community with literacy groups. In high school I took the SAT, as well as some AP and IB courses. My SAT scores were above average (750 verbal, 640 math, I believe) and the AP course I scored a 5 on the AP US History Exam. Though this may be less relevant to your son or daughter, I scored a 6 on the IB Higher English Exam, a 6 on the IB Standard Biology Exam, a 6 on the IB European History Exam, a 5 on the IB Standard Spanish Exam, and a 6 on the IB Standard Economics Exam.
